Our Schoolroom, Not back-to-School Blog Hop

Homeschool Blog Hop
Homeschool Blog Hop

Since I am brand new to homeschooling I was needing ideas.  It was just this past July that I was trolling the net to see if I could come up with some ideas for the schoolroom.  I came across a really cute, informative blog called my3boybarians.com.  She had a post about a Blog Hop, which I posted about a couple of weeks ago.  She had links to over 100 homeschool blogs with posts about their school rooms, jackpot!  Turns out that it was last years Hop and I was just in time to participate in this years Hop, which is now hosted at www.heartofthematter.com.

Since we live in a small condo I didn’t have too many options.  One good thing about not having a TV was we didn’t have a huge purpose for a conventional living room.  It’s too small for entertaining so I decided to use our living room as the schoolroom.  We have a 2 year old, a 4 year old and a 1st-grader, all boys.

Last week I talked about our curriculum.  Now… here is our schoolroom:

Your room is so organized! The PlayDoh shelf is particularly impressive. All of ours — ‘Doh, paraphernalia and all — is tossed into a big bin.

Wow, what a wonderful school space! So welcoming and cheerful!

We’re still fairly new at homeschooling, too (last year was our first year.) I knew it would be good for the kids, but I didn’t realize how much I would love it, too.

Have a fantastic year of homeschooling!

What a great schoolroom! Your boys are really lucky to have you as their mom. It makes me wish that many years ago, I could have homeschooled my children who now have their own children. I’m certain that the boys will benefit for a lifetime because of your dedication to them and their future. You can’t get love from a public education, and you certainly can’t have God in a public education. Your boys have both. The best combination of all. Good luck with your first year!

    EVERYTHING Looks so fun!!

Question!! In your wall picture there is a hanging pockets “THINGY”. LOL, is it a word strip pocket or a file folder pocket?? I have a word strip one, but it looks like a file folder pocket as it’s much loner than my word strip and also it looks like there are some colorful files in it. . . just curious. Because if it’s a file one–I’m gonna go hunt one down!

Thanks Patty! It is for file folders and I love it! It is called the Filetastic and I got it at my local Mardel store, but you can order it online. I was lucky and got them for $5 during their education sale. They are now $12.99 but still worth it. I want a couple of more, I was thinking I might incorproate them with the workbox system but with file folders. Glad you like! Thanks for stopping by. Lori
